I was born with webbed toes on a cold January day (most of them are) in the small coastal town of Morehead City, North Carolina. I arrived at UNC-Asheville with a 1997 Toyota Corolla and a dream…to become an art teacher. Ever since I can remember I have loved to draw, and as I got older I knew I wanted to work with children. Kids love art. They have a natural joy for creating. As an art teacher, I want to show kids that this is all they need to create art. Art isn’t some, magical, unattainable goal or mystical process, it is something real and accessible for every student. During the summer of 2011 I participated in the Weyerhaeuser TOSA program. |
